DBC congregation when the bishop visited in April 2025

Welcome!

DBC is a “daughter church” of St John’s Cathedral in the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui. We are an English-speaking Anglican church with members from many different religious backgrounds. Our mission is to proclaim and embody the Grace of God in Jesus Christ through Word and Sacrament and in humble service to our neighbours in need.

We love kids and value our elders. We take church and God seriously, but not ourselves. We enjoy classic hymns and newer songs alongside ancient liturgy and heartfelt prayer. We are a happy, healthy church in a fresh season of ministry.

I am glad you are interested in our church and I pray that God will meet you where you are, as you are, and help you reconnect with His boundless grace and never-failing love, for you.

                                                                                    Yours in Christ,

The Rev’d Drew Courtright
Priest-in-Charge of DBC and Chaplain at St John’s Cathedral

Sunday School

We love kids! Every Sunday we offer two “Discoverers” Classes for Littles (ages 2-5) and Bigs (ages 6-12) led by volunteers. The children connect with a reading from the Bible as they learn about and experience God’s love for them in Jesus Christ.

How does it work? Children begin with their families in the church service at 10:00am and then head off for their Discoverers Class a few minutes into the service, returning in time to receive Communion. Parents are welcome to stay in class with a child who needs them or remain in church (and have a minute for yourself and God!)

Children are also very welcome to stay with their parents in church if you would prefer that. We offer a child-friendly spot in the back of church so little ones can wiggle while they worship.

Newcomers can join anytime!

Youth Group

DBC provides Youth (ages 8-18) a time for fun, food, and fellowship most Friday evenings during the school year. We play sports, group games, learn a bit about God and the Bible, and enjoy snacks.

Youth Group meets at the DB Community Hall in North Plaza from 6:00-9:00pm.

Next Scheduled Dates: August 22, 29, September 12, 19, 26

Bible Study – English

Wednesdays from 11:00am-12:00pm led by Rev’d Courtright and held at the Courtrights’ home. We dive into one of the Scripture readings for the upcoming Sunday and enjoy fellowship and a cuppa tea.

Newcomers can join anytime!

Bible Study – Bilingual Mandarin/English

DBC also offers a Mandarin/English bilingual Bible Study every other Friday night at one of the member’s homes.

Send us a message for more information.

Social Gatherings

Throughout the year we gather for informal social events like pot-luck suppers, hikes, beach gatherings, and more.

We’d love for you to join us!

Sermons

Every sermon at DBC is about two things: About God’s Grace and about 14 minutes!

Seriously though, sermons help us all engage more deeply with the given Scripture texts for that Sunday,
seeing how God’s Grace in Jesus Christ is powerful and relevant to us today.

Our most recent sermon is below:
